My Guardian Angel
On this Easter Sunday I'm remembering back to Easter 9 years ago. I had just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer a few days earlier. I remember sitting with all my Grandchildren wondering if there would be any more Easters.
When I first thought I might actually have cancer. I called my BFF. She was so supportive. Through out that time she was always there for me. We laughed and cried through out the long recovery process in e-mails several times a week. I could always count on her. We both have books of those emails and they still cheer me up today.
Do you have a guardian Angel whose also your best friend. Has she ever saved your life....mine has!
About 4 or 5 years ago I was on my way to her house and suffered a TIA (mini stroke) while driving on the freeway. I had double vision and lots of confusion. After about 45mins. later I was back on my way to her house. ( after having a low speed car accident getting off the freeway and shredding one of my tires when I was trying to get to a place I could park (I had another Guardian that day as when a GENTLEMAN saw the condition of my tire and offered to change it for me. He also informed me I was 2 off ramps beyond where I was going. He gave me directions how to get back (on surface streets). As I drove up to her house she was running up to my car asking what was wrong. She said she knew something had happened as I arrived 1 hour late. She took one look at me and said I was white as a sheet. She sat me down on the couch and in my continued confusion I tried to tell her what happened (at that time I had no idea what had caused this episode). She drove me home in my car with her eldest daughter following us in hers. She tucked me into bed and told me stay in bed and sleep for a while(My husband was on his way home)
This year my doctor told me that she had saved my arm from being amputated or my death. We live farther away then we ever have, but by some plan we were in the same place at the same time. The previous day I had thought I had the flu and felt awful. The next day the nausea was gone but my right arm was red, hot any very swollen. I had all my lymph nodes removed from my right arm during my breast cancer surgery, requiring me to ware a pressure bandage every day...well it was difficult to do anything with it on and I hadn't worn it in several months. When we got together that day she took one look at my arm and asked the name of my doctor and proceeded to call him. They told her to bring me right in. She drove me there went in with me to see the doctor. I was told I had a staph infection in my arm. Without lymph nodes to keep out infections he was very concerned. I received a HUGE antibiotic injection and given a prescription. I was then told to go home and elevate my arm for "10" days....I start my 3 week therapy tomorrow where I will be tightly wrapped from my fingers to shoulder...every day.
This is why I had to brag about my special Guardian Angel/bff
I love you Marah J.
