Festive Friday Christmas Card blog hop

                      Holiday Moon

This card is made using 2 Viva las Vegastamps Holiday Moon  no. 2265 and
Merry Christmas no.10088. I used water color pencils.

                                           Watercolor Santa

I had forgotten just how much I love to paint with watercolors.  I used a new Christmas stamp from Viva las Vegstamps!  this stamp is called "Jolly Ol' St. Nick" and is item no. 17980 online at Vivalasvegastamps.com.    The print papers I used for this card was from Melissa Frances and the actual stamping was done 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper. The fur was covered with Rock Candy stickles.

I couldn't  resist this uncropped photo to show off our Sunny May day.
Check out our blue skies and palm trees in San Diego!  Difficult to think about Christmas just yet?

Viva las Vegas Design Team Post

I
                                             Good-Night Ladies!

This card is stamped on a vintage music sheet. (I love the way it takes up the ink.)
I used Momento tuxedo black ink and embossed it using ultra high gloss embossing powder.
(both available at Viva las Vegastamps!)

The actual card is made from Graphic 45's steam-punk series paper.
The Facial features are stamp no. 14326 (another great facial feature stamp is
no.8852)  Next I stamped with a great new stamp "Nesting Gears" no.18077
I stamped it at least 3 times filling in with square gear stamp no. 17502

My favorite part of this card
Vintage Bicycle Built for 2 stamp no. 16480

You know the saying "working outside the box", well I work outside the envelope.
I hate to be restricted by the envelope size so I make my card and then I make a
 envelope to match:

First I use a 12 x 12 scrapbook paper laying it diagonally with the card in the center,
Fold the bottom of the paper up to  the top of the card.
next fold one side of your paper a little beyond the center of the card...now fold the opposite side the same way.  I now use the wonderful product "Miracle tape" (also available at Vivalasvegastamps!)to secure the sides down one over the other.

Lastly, using your card as your guide fold down the top... As DeeDee would say "Voila!" you have a card with a matching envelope!

                                                Baby Face Chritmas

While looking at some old Sommerset Holiday Celebration magazines I found this picture in the ads section.  I had to use this picture for a Christmas card.  I set it on red embossed bazzil paper after surrounding it with lace stickers and red gems.  I then took some glittered paper butterflies to set it off.  I finally layered it on my favorite Kraft paper.  I also added some glossy accents to the sparkeling eyes and rose bud lips.

Festive Friday Christmas Blog Hop

                                                  Christmas Fairy Queen

I wanted to design a Victorian Steam Punk style Christmas design.
For this card I layered up from the red doilie and just played with different objects
until it looked the way I wanted.

My Guardian Angel

On this Easter Sunday I'm remembering back to Easter 9 years ago.  I had just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer a few days earlier.  I remember sitting with all my Grandchildren wondering if there would be any  more Easters.

When I first thought I might actually have cancer. I called my BFF.  She was so supportive.  Through out that time she was always there for me.  We laughed and cried through out the long recovery process in e-mails several times a week. I could always count on her.  We both have books of those emails and they still cheer me up today.

Do you have a guardian Angel whose also your best friend. Has she ever saved your life....mine has!

About 4 or 5 years ago I was on my way to her house and suffered a TIA (mini stroke) while driving on the freeway.  I had double vision and lots of confusion.  After about 45mins. later I was back on my way to her house. ( after having a low speed car accident getting off the freeway and shredding one of my tires when I was trying to get to a place I could park (I had another Guardian that day as  when a GENTLEMAN saw the condition of my tire and offered to change it for me.  He also informed me I was 2 off ramps beyond where I was going.  He gave me directions how to get back (on surface streets).  As I drove up to her house she was running up to my car asking what was wrong.  She said she knew something had happened as I arrived 1 hour late.  She took one look at me and said I was white as a sheet.  She sat me down on the couch and in my continued confusion I tried to tell her what happened (at that time I had no idea what had caused this episode).  She drove me home in my car with her eldest daughter following us in hers.  She tucked me into bed and told me stay in bed and sleep for a while(My husband was on his way home)

This year my doctor told me that she had saved my arm from being amputated or my death.  We live farther away then we ever have, but by some plan we were in the same place at the same time.  The previous day I had thought I had the flu and felt awful.  The next day the nausea was gone but my right arm was red, hot any very swollen.  I had all my lymph nodes removed from my right arm during my breast cancer surgery, requiring me to ware a pressure bandage every day...well it was difficult to do anything with it on and I hadn't worn it in several months.  When we got together that day she took one look at my arm and asked the name of my doctor and proceeded to call him.  They told her to bring me right in.  She drove me there went in with me to see the doctor. I was told I had a staph infection in my arm.  Without lymph nodes to keep out infections he was very concerned.  I received a HUGE antibiotic injection and given a prescription.   I was then told to go home and elevate my arm for "10" days....I start my 3 week therapy tomorrow where I will be tightly wrapped from my fingers to shoulder...every day.

This is why I had to brag about my special Guardian Angel/bff

I love you Marah J.
